First of all, let me say that I made a very stupid move and realize it. I need legal and not moral advice as I have not previously nor will I ever break the law again. It was frivolous and stupid and I understand this.

I was ticketed but NOT arrested for a Class C misdemeanor theft (shoplifting a $18 shirt) in Texas. If I plead guilty or no contest, receive deferred adjudication, and successfully complete my probation, what stays on my record? Since I was not arrested, is there an arrest record? What will come up on a background search?

Also, I was hired for a job and accepted the offer. I filled out paperwork for a background search -- since the case is still pending, will it show up?

Thanks for your help
