Illinois. A case was filed against my husband and I- we don't owe any money, we are being sued for attorney's fees (long story). I want to know if in court we should bring up the fact that we wrote the lawyer 3 times since May disputing the debt and he didn't answer our letters until July 30 explaining the plaintiffs side. At that point the attorney's fees were astronomical.

I hope someone is able to help with this question. I haven't had too much luck here so far. Court date is Wednesday 8/8.

Without knowing the facts of what debt was incurred and what the claims are against you, we really are not able to provide much help. Further, we would need to know what, if any, difference in billing between the claims made in May (at your first letter) and the amount claimed in July.

If your only question is whether you should mention the time lapse in your court appearance, the answer is that you should offer ANY evidence or testimony that you beleive would help your case.

Thanks, Halket. We will bring up the time lapse. In May the legal fees were $75. Now they are around $1500, maybe more. I posted the long story a couple of times (8/2 was the last time), but I think it was too long and maybe a bit confusing. Didn't get any replies.

Thanks again.
