I filed for divorce from my wife of 18 years in January 05 and I bought a house six months later. Our 2 children moved in and have been staying with me since August of last year. My wife is disable, she recieves SSI(600 mo) and has Section 8 ( 980 mo). I gross about 1200 a week. After Taxes and the Mortgage payment I have 550 a week left to pay for bills, gas, food and clothing. Her lawyers want 20 a month in alimony and 210 a week for child support, and they want me to maintin a car for her, Includeing insurance. why should I have to provide her with a car and child support if I have the kids and I drop them off and pick them up for visits? I know she can't work but should I agree to these conditions and if so for how long?
Note: we have been married for 18 years but we haven't lived togeather the whole time. I have only been making 1200 a week for the past 3 years. I can afford to give her 160 a week but any more than that and I would be hurting myself and the kids.
