What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? FL
I know it's better if I get licensed but the reason I'm asking is because a lot of moving companies ( especially on UShip.com etc...) are not licensed !
Ans those who are cannot compete with the low prices of those who are not ! So what's the whole point of it?
Other than being "legal" and for being able to legally advertise your business/services?...
Another question I have is ..in order to keep cost down and avoid paying for insurance - Can I "rent" a truck from another company of mine?..
It's actually the same company so technically I'll be renting from myself and truck will be insured?
or are there any other ways to get around it?
thanks!

uShip isn't a moving company. It's merely on online database of brokers/carriers. Movers are "registered" by the counties in Florida. You need to check the counties you are doing business with.
If you operate in interstate commerce, you need federal licensing.

I know UShip is not a moving company, I was just saying that most companies on UShip are not licensed.
I'm thinking about doing just local moves..but if I decide to do out of state where do I get that federal license from?
Thanks!
