What is the name of your state? ID

We have joint legal and joint and shared physical custody - I have three weekend a month and our order states that my visitaion begins Friday as soon after school as I am available to pick up the kids- at MY discretion.
This weekend, my parents are headed my way from there and will be picking up the kids at my request from school so they can bring them over for my weekend. My ex is telling me that he will not approve them picking up the kids at school and that they will not be allowed to take them before 5:30 (school gets out at 3:30). (I sent a copy of the order, a copy of the email I sent notifying him they would be picking them up, and an authoization from me to pick them up, I also called the schools to let them know)
I don't even try anymore to reason with him because he constantly shows blatant disregard for the court order.
If he refuses to release the kids to my parents, can I file contempt?

Does your court order say anything specifically about others picking up the children? Does it have any wording about you being able to designate someone other than yourself to pick them up?

Our order has no language restricting others picking up the kids. His mother, step-dad, and his new wife frequently pick up the kids for him.

Now he is not only refusing to release the kids to my parents, but telling me that it isn't my weekend - the order specifies the weekend as Friday through Sunday and since I have the 1st weekend in April and this is the first Friday in April, this should be my weekend.

Your best bet is to go there yourself and if he refuses to give you the children, file a police report. Arrive w/the court order in hand.

Don't put your parents in the position of dealing with this if the ex is going to be a putz.

yep and let him know that you both have to play by the same rules, if he is going to refuse to release the children to anyone but you, then you will follow his example- he may rethink things if you put it that way
