What is the name of your state?Ohio
I am the CP and was granted the minimal support from NCP due to his voluntary unemployment at the time of the hearing, now building to almost $10,000 in arrears. I am going through the CSEA through the county, however, my caseworker seems to continually tell me he's on a contempt list, that never seems to serve any justice. about three times a year he'll make a few payments, so she backs off, and nothing happens. The child is only 3. (Just to give an idea of how little has been paid) I am a single mother of 3 who can't just decide not to work, I am the one feeding them and putting a roof over them, clothes, etc. He has had several requests to do their seek-work program, and has never complied, this over the three year period, and still, no contempt hearing. Can I go to the courts myself? It's as if he's sweet talked the caseworker into feeling sorry for him, as he has done to many judges for several of his criminal acts.

You have to file the show cause for contempt on your own. Many people seem to think that the CSEA works for you -- they do NOT! They are just responsible for enforcing child support collection (hence "child support enforcement agency.") If a few months have gone by and he has not paid, then you should be heading to the courthouse (clerk of courts office) and get the form for "show cause for contempt". There is most likely a filing fee.

Thank you, it would be worth it to me to pay a minimal fee. I actually went through the intake of the Supportkids Network, until I saw how much they profit from it. I was under the impression it was nonprofit. My bad, I read on another post that it becomes a debt then which could be declared in a bankruptcy?! That's scary, I had no idea. More people should be warned, there are many desperate people exhausting themselves with trying to collect. I am going there to file today. Thanks again! I just wanted to be sure it wouldn't withdraw their services going over their head persay.

Whether they claim "non-profit" or not (most likely for some sort of tax break because they claim their doing a public service), it is a company/business. If they took on collecting child support, it would become a debt, just like a credit card and can be part of a bankruptcy proceeding. Child support through the state agency can not be wiped out through bankruptcy proccedings.
