What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida

I got arrested for the first time on a DUI. I blew a .097. If I am offered a plea to reckless driving, should I take it? What are the penalties for reckless driving? Will my insurance go up less than if I am convicted of DUI?

My lawyer said it was a possibility.
If you have an attorney then why don't you ask him/her? You are paying for legal services so why don't you take full advantage? Your attorney can advise you better than we can. If you have no confidence in your attorney then it's time to find a new one.

Slow down there, Sparky. I have asked him. He recommends it. That is one opinion. I'm hoping to find someone who went through the process, took a plea to reckless driving, and can advise me as to how it affected their insurance, future job search, etc.

You didn't ask about job searches, etc. You asked:

No one can tell you if you should take the plea. Consult another attorney if you don't like what yours is telling you.

Why don't you ask YOUR ATTORNEY what the penalties are? Or look it up online yourself. We won't do basic homework for you.

Your insurance will go up less.

Love, Sparky

Oh PLEASE, why are you so hostile? I know what the penalties are as far as the LAW is concerned. However the attorney cannot advise me as to what effect this will have on my insurance or other ramifications. I am simply looking for advice from someone who has made the decision to take a plea to reckless driving, and how it affected them. That clearly is not YOU, so you can bow out now.

I'm not up on Florida's driving laws.
As for job searches; I don't think DWI's ever go away. Moving violations only stay on your record for a few years as far as job searches and insurance goes.
Insurance Co's may hit reckless as hard as they hit DWI's.
With a Wet Reckless you may have to have your insurance company file an SR22 whitch can cost from $10 to $120 extra a month.
The reckless may also have a higher fine schedule???
Reckless probably also puts points on your license.
You can find all off this info on the Florida DMV web site.

Realize that as your lawyer stated; Dropped to a reckless.

You were the one who started getting nasty with the name calling (whatever Sparky really means).

You didn't ask any of that in your original post. You should have been more clear as to the information you were looking for.

I would think that if your attorney handles DWI case he most certainly could answer those questions.

Both reckless driving and DUI are criminal charges in Florida. They never "go away." The stigma of the reckless is less (and in certain circumstances like CDLs it's way preferable). As others have said, we can't tell if it's a good deal for you or not without all the details that your LAWYER has.

Some people think that if it's your first DUI and you're an all-around responsible person, pleading to reckless driving might be a good move.

In terms of insurance rates, I think it depends on your auto insurance whether your rates will go up. I definitely think they will go up, but not as much as if you got a DUI. I guess it just depends on what your auto insurance thinks of you and how much of a risk you seem to them. I found this article about what info insurance companies get from you, if you're interested. Good luck!
