I want to start an LLC in Oklahoma to buy and manage rental properties and I need to know if it would be a mistake to use an online company (e.g. mycorporation.com) to form the LLC versus using a local lawyer. In other words, does the protection the LLC provides me vary depending upon the lawyer that files it? If so, how do I know I'm using the right service/lawyer?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

If the LLC is validly formed and the proper papers filed, the protection is the same no matter who the lawyer.

I don't personally know anything one way or the other about any online companies that form LLCs, but the process is simple enough so that I am sure it is very possible to do it well online.

Unless you know someone who has used an online service, I don't know how you would know how reliable it is.
