What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
Florida.

Months ago I was getting set up for class in my school with grants covering my classes but unknown to me I was short 2300 something dollars and before when I was short my classes were denied and I was told but this time I guess in a fit of desperation my success coach put me on a payment plan without my permission or knowledge and months later I get a call from their corporate office telling me about what I owe. I call her as its their advice and not only does she admit she did this but she also says she doesn't need my permission and no I haven't signed any papers authorizing this and her options are to take a loan to pay it or to sign on a devry loan. From my moms and dads advice this sounds illegal like fraud but I would appreciate and experts advice as I feel I shouldn't have to pay for what I call their screw up(or dishonesty) and I would rather see my options besides letting this go to collections. Thank you.

Did you attend the classes or not? If not, did you properly withdraw your registration prior to the start of the semester?

One thing I left out that I should have put in.
I originally attended the college on campus in dallas texas when I stayed with my father but due to a falling out I had to return home to Jacksonville florida and I switched to online courses about over a year ago.
I attended the courses then but online through devryu.net

I suspect it is not quite as you describe but if it is, have them show you where you became legally obligated for what they say you owe them.

I have never seen a school that does not issue a statement of charges for classes. If you have grants or such, they are on that sheet, If there is a remaining balance, it shows that too. It is often under the section saying something like:

balance owed

did you get a statement of your account somewhat like what I described?

I've never received any statements of what I was owed until months later where I got the call from their corporate office(a man named gilbert called me and told me of the remaining balance) and a letter in the mail and he was surprised when I knew nothing of it and told me to talk to my success coach who told me that they can put me on a payment plan if I end up short without my permission or any papers signed and gave me options to take our a private loan or what they call a *devry* loan.
I was 23 and was unemployed so I doubt I would have took on a payment plan if I knew I was short money for classes.

So you attended the classes, now you have to pay for them.
Thank you for the advice though I take it with a grain of salt.
So I can be put on a payment plan without my permission, notification or signature and then be expected to pay the remaining balance?
This isn't for all classes.. My grants came in and paid for some but they had 2600 left over and instead of denying me and telling me they passed me for classes to get the money quickly.

Your statements would have been made available to you through the My DeVry portal. I know this for a fact and if you did not check your portal this is completely on you. DeVry constantly sends reminders that this is available, that is available on the portal.

You took the classes and you even say you would have taken the payment plan anyway. You got the education, now pay the school.
