What is the name of your state? Indiana My wife got a ticket for doing a U-turn; it's going to cost $110.00. She isn't willing to go to court, so we have to pay it. I don't know anything about tickets, so I could use your advice. On the back of the ticket it lists three options; one of which you have to sign:

1.admission of violation

2.No contest-I waive my right to trial. I do not admit this violation. I consent to entry of a judgement for the state.

3.I deny this violation

Can she deny the violation and just pay the fine? Or will this require her to appear in court if she denies it? I'm concerned about the effect this is going to have on our insuranace rates. I want to take the best approach, to minimize the fall-out. I've never had a ticket, so I am not sure how to proceed. Thanks.

Denying the violation will enter a plea of not guilty. This will require her to go to court. If she won't, your only option would be the second, in which she wrote an explanation and the judge will lower the bail, possibly, based upon her version of events.
