What is the name of your state?PA though the property is in New York

My grandparents passed away back in march and left everything in a trust to be divided among 20 grandchildren. We have several problems (first nothing was left to the children). My sister is a lawyer and was asked by my grandfather to be the executor because he wished to avoid needing to hire a probate attorney and having his money go outside the family. My sister decided to hire a probate attorney anyway (from a branch of her firm, of course, which I'm sure she is getting some sort of "new business" fee from). The house/property are located on 50 acres of land in new york (about 6 hour drive for me & my sister). My sister has not given any updates about the house (which myself and several of the cousins are interested in keeping in the family). I recently found out that as the executor, she has been driving up to the house and doing clean up work - which is great - and that she is charging the estate for expenses - which I think she should do inleui of her exectree fees although I'd be shocked if she didn't take both. What amazed me is that she has been making the trip with one of my sisters (my other sister, my brother and myself all volunteered to help; but were never asked). This siter has a 1 year old. They are apparently charging the estate for my my other sister and her kid's expenses (he's 1!). They are buying food, diapers, DVD player for the trip for the kid. I don't have a problem with them charging the estate; but the kid doesn't have to come. He could be left with his Dad. He is obviously not doing anything in the house and his mother can't be doing alot. I have a 3 year old. Believe me - she is just taking care of the kid 90% of the time. Meanwhile the rest of us had told the sister(executor) that we'd be willing to do the work for free.

Is there anything we can do? Or do we just grin and accept that my 2 apparently untrustworthy sisters are just going to keep this going. The total inheritence is substantial; but divided by 20 , then Lawyer fees, executor fees (my sister gets to triple dip!), etc it can dwindle quickly

Nitpicking about minor expenses will only aggravate the situation and possibly motivate them to stall and delay getting your check. Yes, it's improper what they are doing but it's not very important--they think they are getting an advance on money that is theirs eventually, anyway.

Wait until you get your check and then raise your question, or do it now so they will be put on notice.
