I live in Indiana.

Hello

I bought a website domain, www.windycitysports.org a little over a year ago and our provider for most of that time has been just fine. No problems.

Our main thing with the website is a php message board.

Our hosting provider is Ipowerweb (www.ipowerweb.com)

A week ago, our site started to experience significant problems, particularly the message board. I am a web designer and I knew immediately that the problem was not on my end or with any coding I made, but with the host's server that powers php.

After NUMEROUS emails trying to get them to identify the problem, they finally admitted that the problem was indeed on their end of the net.

Now, I paid for 2 years of service with these people. And their solution to the problem?

Their solution is that I move to another of their servers that doesn't have a problem, and that I pay even more money to do so.

I am so astounded by this right now that I am almost at a loss for words. Frustration doesn't even come close to explaining it.

Do I have any options here at all?

Of course you have options. You can read the contract you signed with them and find out what you need to do to cancel their services, then move your site to a better, more stable php provider or rewrite your site in asp or Cold Fusion.

Okay, anyone else want to offer another condescending answer?
Sure, no problem.

  • Pray to Jobu, God of Hosting, for a power surge to the servers
  • Whine about getting the correct information to your question
  • Polish your 12-sided D&D dice for the big game next Saturday night
  • Upload some of your child porn collection to the server, then call teh FBI to report the host
  • Sell your doodles of Peyton Manning's ass on ebay

Or you could just read your contract also.

Your main option, as said, is to read the terms of use. That's not condescending. Amazing how few people read those things. Can be handy to do so.

Then, if the solution isn't one you like, move to a new server or a new company. If you're thinking court, it's not worth the time. It's technology, and tehcnology has glitches. Period.
