My ex-husband and I dated for 8 years and were then married for 7 years. All through the years, I went above and beyond for him and his family. I won't go into all the details, that's another story. Anyway, here is my issue: I am in the real estate business and I have a large clientele. I had a particular client who happens to also be a good friend. Our daughters take tumbling together and go to school together. I helped him out on the refinance of his house as part of my job. There was nothing other than a strictly professional relationship. Well, my ex accused me of sleeping with him and having an affair. That is so not true. Anyway, I got a call from "Tim" informing me that my ex's aunt was at the doctor's office talking to a friend and telling her all about my affair and my sleeping with Tim. A friend of Tim's overheard the conversation and told Tim about it. I am infuriated at the immaturity of my ex's aunt, but I can't say that I am surprised. This is not the first time I have been the subject of lies she has told. She told people that I went to church with that I had mental and emotional problems and needed to see a therapist before I had a breakdown. She has said that I have had other affairs and cheated on her nephew other times. I would like to know if there is anything or any recourse that I might have against her. She is the type who has not one good thing to say about anyone and she knows everything about everybody and she is always right. I just can't stand it. Help!

don't validate it by disagreeing with it. if you know how she is, give others credit for knowing it, too. from a legal point of view, I don't know--but, remember, if you try to discredit her, folks will wonder why you are so bothered by it, if it isn't true. human nature rules.

You are right. Consider the source and forget about it. I would be no better than her if I tried to get back at her. Now that I have had that "COOLING OFF PERIOD" I know I am a better person than her and I don't have to justify anything to anyone. Thanks!!
