I have a roommate who is trying to get out of her lease. I live in Colorado. She has been telling the landlord lies about me. The landlord tried to set up a meeting between us but she refused to see me on the grounds that she claims I slashed her tire which I most certainly did not. She also claimed she was going to get a restraining order against me. Is this legal grounds to sue her and would this fall under slander or defamation of character? What are these types of cases usually worth? She has undermined my reputation with someone I am in a business relationship with and I would like to know my options. Thanks!!!!!

Sorry, but based on the information provided in your post, the realities of this are that you have no cause of action, or at least insufficient PROVABLE monetary damages to warrant the cost of a lawsuit.

I am not saying that this is 'fair', but a claim of 'undermined reputation' is often unprovable when put under the inspection of unaffected parties.
