What is the name of your state? NC

Just wondering what I can do if anything...I need some advice. A woman that use to work in my husbands office is spreading vicious rumors that they were having an affair. She started this over a year ago, and it is continuing even now. She is also saying she "confronted" me in a local coffee shop and in her words, "let me have it", but someone was there that morning who knows both of us, and saw both of us and witnessed that there was absolutely nothing spoken between the two of us, because I never got out of my automobile. Over the past year, we have found out that this woman is a compulsive liar and can't even find a job in town because of everyone knowing she is mentally "unstable". What, if anything, can I do to stop her from spreading these lies that she is still continuing a year later?

Thanks for your help.

There are thousands of posts similar to yours so I have prepared a standard answer:

Get a lawyer.

Invest $20K and three years.

Sue the bad people for defamation.

If you win, expect them to keep doing it.

If you lose, expect them to keep doing it.

Stand by for other opinions.
