I recently ran into a situation that I am unsure how to properly address. I work at a manufactoing plant in a department with only two other people, one of which is the supervisor. Until recently I had been doing several "supervisor" tasks for my boss ie: production paperwork, documentation, excel formating, etc. I had no problem performing the tasks I was asked to do because I enjoy that type of work. Recently I was bothered when my boss took credit for the work I had done while I was standing there. As one could imaging I was not thrilled, so from then on I explained to him that he needed to take care of these tasks on his own, that it wasnt in my job description, and I technically wasnt to be doing them anyway. They were solely the responsibility of the supervisor. This caused major tension between my boss and I because it was apparent that his supervisors were no longer impressed with the outcome and stature of these tasks. He then grew iritated with me, but I still refused to do those jobs. Today I was informed by his superior that I was being accused of standing over his shoulder to obtain his password for the computer system, and that I broke into his computer, and was using it without his authorization. I have SEVERAL witnesses that can validate that I infact was not only given the password by my boss, but was instructed to do his paperwork and such, and that at no given time had I ever accessed the system without his prior knowledge or approval. This statement that he made about me is a violation of company conduct ordinances, and could have cost me my job. I just want to know how much ground I have to use this against him in the event that he continues to harrass me, or in the event that his statement becomes a plant wide rumor!

I would start get written statements signed by your witnesses for possible future use. I would keep track of dates and times and accusations made. What he is saying, if false, is defamatory and could not only affect your reputation at the manufacturing plant, but could cost you your job.

It sounds like "his" work is suffering now that you aren't doing it for him, and you have ticked him off.
