What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? NY

As other families have gone thru, my family, brothers and sisters are having an issue with one of mine sister and her husband concerning my mothers assets. The bottom line is that my brother inlaw has been spreading information that i think is a cause for a slander lawsuit. he has been saying that I demanded a kickback from the person who has decided to purchase my mothers house and also that I demanded a kickback from him, which I don't understand at all since he is not family. Also they refuse to let anyone see or talk to our mother, she is 93. Do I have a case for a slander suit? And how much will the cost be for a lawyer?

Thank you,

I don't think kickbacks are against the law, so I can't see how this is defamatory.

But, if you have an extra $10K and a couple of years to waste, sue the rascal and see what happens.
