What is the name of your state?
Chris from California

About two weeks ago, we had to ban one of the administrators from a fishing forum. Ever since then, he has tried doing everything he can to shut us down or make running the site miserable.

The guy wrote, “As Chris works in the industry at Bob Sands tackle in LA, you would think he would be a bit more grown up and understand what is really going on.” In another fishing forum in hopes of having that forum’s enraged members come by and harass me or start other types of problems.

Furthermore, in an instant messenger conversation we had, I feel he showed his intent of posting my place of business. In the conversation, I am TR0PSN4J while he is jstcrzyengh.

TR0PSN4J: lots of replys were attacks on tony. the members, tried to, even thought it was unsuccesful, "sabotage" our site, and revealing my place of business wasnt all that great either
jstcrzyengh: lol Did someone come into Bob sands?
jstcrzyengh: Someone call
TR0PSN4J: nope not a single person
jstcrzyengh: Im surprised
jstcrzyengh: but that's good for you, because as soon as they heard about hookup and what they did, along with your backing of the "problem" I am not sure if that would equal job security

So I’ve said everything I think I need to say. The few questions I have are:

1, Can AOL instant messenger conversations be used in court as evidence?
2, Do I have enough to sue him for slander or for any other reason?
3, Will I win if I do sue him?

also this is my first time so if i forgot to mention anything, just tell me and i'll edit it into the post or i'll make a new reply.

There are thousands of posts similar to yours so I have prepared a standard answer:

Get a lawyer.

Invest $20K and three years.

Sue the bad people for defamation.

If you win, expect them to keep doing it.

If you lose, expect them to keep doing it.

Stand by for other opinions.
