What is the name of your state?texas
My question is should I sue after a doc screamed at me in the er calling me by my first and last name: when was the last time you smoked pot.

to the people who replied to me:
I wasn't DRUG SEEKING and I am under the care of a gastroenterologist and a PCP. Yes, I have been drug tested at work and always passed with flyling colors; however I haven't been tested since taking Protonix. My supervisor drove me to the ER from the airport because I was to dizzy to drive. By the way, I am also an RN and am going after this DOC cause he was absoulutely OUT OF LINE! How would you like it if someone said to you: "When's the last time you beat your wife/husband and kids." He shouted so loud everyone in the ER, patients, visitors and other employees could here. At the time I went to the ER I did not know Protonix could cause a false positive THC level.

Protonix may cause a false positive for marijuana in certain inital screening test(s) in much the same way that ibuprofen, ketoprofen, etc. could cause a false positive for marijuana with the old Silva drug screen tests. I don't know which particular test(s) cause a false (+) for pot from Protonix, but it is probably particular to only one brand of drug screen test, and my guess would be that it could well exhibit that same false (+) characteristic with other PPIs. What I am referring to are the typical "dip-the-strip(s)-into-the-urine-sample-tests" initial screening tests used to see if there is a possibility of drug abuse and therefore worthwhile to run a GC/MS confirmation test on the sample. However, these false positives are ONLY present in these initial screening tests (and only one or a few certain brands of them anyway), and you will NOT get false positives in any confirmation test utilizing GC/MS. That's an inarguable fact, period.

When a person undergoes a drug screen for employment purposes, etc., or any situation where that person could be adversely affected, the initial screen in and of itself will NOT result in that adverse action being taken...it merely kicks you up to the next level where they WILL know what you took. The ONLY "false positives" that would EVER turn up in GC/MS are not really false positives, and would be human error. Point being, if your urine is hot for drug metabolites in a GC/MS, you are NOT getting a false positive.

She is playing the system for all it's worth and a case without merit.
