We believe that there is strong reason to bring a defamation/slander action. A teacher at our private local high school was terminated in June without being given a reason. After extensive pressure from parents and students the school principal who fired him apparently did allow the teacher to seee his own file. The teacher insisted and was allowed to place a letter in the file stating that a great deal of the information was incorrect and false. Subsequently, the firing was protested by many parents and students. There now have been multiple instances where the principal has waved the teacher's file to various individuals, stating "if you only knew what was in this file you would not complain". Further on 8/17/05 the principal pulled aside another teacher and, holding the subject teacher's file in hand stated: "this is only hearsay, but evidently there is a lot of sexual type of information in this file". On 8/19/05 the principal summoned various students into his office at various times and again pulled the subject teacher's file out..to one student he stated"what is in this file...I had to fire him for the safety of the students". These are only a few of the examples of what has been occuring.

The teacher has a young family, one of the children has health issues and the teacher himself has a disability. He is hesitant to do anything because it has already been difficult to find employment givenm what the principal is saying.

Is there a remedy??? We need to know this ASAP

Those statements are not specific, and do not sound like defamation/slander.

Have the teacher go to an ATTORNEY.
Specifics can make the difference...
