Slander?

What is the name of your state? Iowa

I need to know exactly how someone can file slander charges on me...here is the story: I have a neighbor that is very evil and thinks she owns the road on her end and about 3 weeks ago she built a "speed bump" with the gravel from the road and everyone had to turn around because their vehicles were rubbing when trying to go over it so, I called the office where I live and was yelling over their answering machine that someone needed to come grade down the road which they did so that Monday the secretary of the office emailed me telling me if I have anymore problems to let her know well then I proceeded to vent saying how could this gal try to be a board member when she is dangerous to our children with building speed bumps and spraying them with water with the water hose when on their 4 wheelers and then I said in the email "don't let her kindness fool you" well she has now seeked an attorney and they have contacted that secretary wanting all evidence turned over to them so they can get me for slander...does she have a case or I'm stressing over nothing? Please help!

Such anger in you....are you out to hurt people or what? don't get me wrong, I'm a good person and alls I did was ask a simple question not a freaking pounding of crap out of your mouth. If you can't say something nice, then don't say it cause I don't need your freaking stress!

Scaredtodeath - according to this web site, "defamation" is

"Defamation, sometimes called "defamation of character", is spoken or written words that falsely and negatively reflect on a living person's reputation.

If a person or the news media says or writes something about you that is understood to lower your reputation, or that keeps people from associating with you, defamation has occurred. Slander and libel are two forms of defamation."

) to read it and there are some other examples of "insults" and if they are to be considered slander, etc. I also understand it that if you give your opinion, it's not slander. But, if you state things as FACT, then slander could be a possibility. They also mentioned something like "outbursts of emotion" would be a consideration. Just go to that link and look around and see what you can find. I'm very busy with 3 kids and don't have time to do it right now, but after seeing the way you were treated, I thought I would try and help.

I'm telling you this from my own research on the subject (I've got something going on myself) since you won't get any help in this forum from what I can tell. I'm' nowhere near an attorney so if I've mis-quoted something, I apologize. I'm sure if I did that, it won't be long before I'm called a moron, idiot, or something like that. It's something I would try and research myself if I were you.

Furthermore - just ignore the one's that are badgering you. I also posted a message seeking advice and all I got was a kid-like response. One particular poster seems to enjoy attempting to hurt people with his words, calls people idiots, tells them they're guilty after the very first post, tells them they're childish, etc., then turns around and tells others he/she needs more info - blah blah blah. I find it amusing that he/she calls people childish and idiots after reading what he/she puts toward people in his/her posts. I've never realized that resorting to name calling was the "adult" and "mature" thing to do to people who are simply seeking help or advice. Of course, this is all my opinion. :) So, just ignore them. :)

I feel their actions are immature and irresponsible and they don't need to be in the "helping people" business. Don't let them bother you.

And last but not least, he didn't ask me for more information; yet, found it necessary to judge my situation, tell me I had no case, etc., and because of his response, I called an attorney. This poster was WRONG, dead wrong, because I DO have a case according to the attorney's office I spoke to. (They actually listened and THEN gave me their answer.)

You hang in there. I hope everything works out for you and you don't hit any more "speed bumps." :)

Thanks. It's amazing isn't it? I actually tried to help her without calling her stupid, moron, idiot, and a lot of the other words I've seen you use in this forum for people simply asking for help.

And since I've got the "cut and paste" down pat, I want to use it again. There may be a word in there that you recognize.

Do you happen to see the word SLANDER in there? Did I not tell her there were more examples in there and that she should check it out? Did I tell her I was not busy and didn't have time to go look them all up? Did I tell her that this was the answer? Nope, sure didn't. Just trying to lead her in the right direction because she sure as heck wasn't getting any help from anybody else.

And what would YOU know about answering people about what they actually asked? LOL I haven't seen you do it but one time in the few threads that I have read and you didn't answer them UNTIL AFTER you called them "idiot" and all that.

So sue me for trying to treat someone with respect and trying to help. I enjoy helping people when I can instead of resorting to name calling and immature remarks which hasn't appeared to help anyone yet. At least the "wasted effort" was trying to do some good for someone who simply asked a question but got ridiculed instead.

So tell me, which is the best "wasted effort?" My trying to help or your name calling? I could make fun of you for your typos, but guess what? I'm not perfect so why would I expect YOU to be?. Mistakes happen, people make bad choices, etc.

I, for the life of me, can't figure out what your purpose on this board is except that you are here simply to ridicule people and take your anger out on them for whatever reason as you hide behind your computer. I am simply basing this after reading several of your posts replying to those simply asking questions, and also by the way you replied to mine.

I want to say "thank you" "thank You" your a wonderful person and I agree wtih you that some people on here are so rude, I can tell they "aren't" attorneys, they don't know jack crap! I think the reason why they make people feel like idiots is cause they have NO life and have to hang on this website all the time and try to hurt people but I think it was funny cause they are the idiots and they know it.......thanks so much for you help and good luck to you!!!!
