A girl has been telling friends and co-workers of mine that I am addicted to crack and coke. Is this slander? If so, what can I do to stop her. Are their any damages that I can recieve by suing her?

You're the only person who knows the answer to that question. Is it true?

"Are their any damages that I can recieve by suing her?"

IF this is slander and IF you have actual damages, you MIGHT be able to recover your damages. How have you been damaged?

No, I'm not, but she has gone up to my coworkers and told them that she knows I do those drugs. As for damages: just having coworkers work with me while thinking I do illegal drugs.

They told me that they were told by this girl that she knew for a fact that I did these drugs. My coworkers once worked with her, and weren't sure what to believe. A week or so after she told them they approached me.

Kellyp, the critical question is whether or not the person making the allegations, said or implied that she has actual knowledge that you use these drugs.

The actual statements she made must be reviewed carefully to determine if they qualify as "factual statements".

If you can prove the defendant made factual, untrue statements that you use illegal substances, the defendant is guilty of defamation per se and damages are presumed.

She did not imply that I did the drugs, she went up to my coworkers, friends, and various people in my high school and told them that I do cocaine. She told them that she knew the statement to be true and that I was indeed a "crackhead." I want her to stop, even though I do not have monetary damages. I have a damaged reputation and rumors spreading about me. That is why I want to know what court I should take her to and how to go about making her stop. I can take a drug test as proof that what she says is not true, and bring witnesses to her allegations, but what else can I do?
