I have been working at my current job at a bank for 6 months. I recently got called into a meeting with my direct boss and the Human Resources Director. Apparently, they received a call stating that one night, I was at a bar, introduced myself as an employee of the bank, gave my first and last name, and position at the bank. I then proceeded to the bathroom, smoked marijuana with my friends, and offered this person some weed as well. The person called HR at my bank, and threatened to pull their investments if druggies are handling their money.
Needless to say, I wasn't at the establishment they claimed I was, nor have I ever set foot in it. I have witnesses, as well as the owner of another establishment placing me on the other side of town on the night in question. I was also willing to take a drug test, although the HR director told me not to worry about it.
She did give me information regarding rehab, and counseling. That was upsetting. She also told me that she couldn't give me any information regarding who the caller was. I don't know if that is because she didn't have it, or is keeping it confidential.
Am I within my rights to find out who has falsely accused me of this, considering it affects my reputation with my employer? If the HR director has information, do I have a right to know, and do I have a leg to stand on legally? Thanks in advance for any help with this situation...
