I live in Georgia. I slipped and fell at a major hotel in Jan. of this year. The motel was under some renovations. The motel/contractor(?) had placed carpet remnants in front of some of the room doors to keep sawdust from being tracked in the rooms. A piece of this carpet was on a walkway/handicap(?) ramp when I went out to go eat. I did not use this ramp when I went to my room. I stepped on the remnant on the ramp and my feet flew out from under me. I landed on my lower back, right elbow, and hit my head on the concrete knocking me unconcious. The insurance adjuster has contacted me with a claim number and requested my medical records. I did not agree to give them to him. I am being treated by an orthopedic surgeon for shoulder AC joint injury, a urologist for a prolapsed bladder due to the fall, and a neurologist for post concussion symptoms. My questions are, what range of compensation should we ask for in settleing, and can I handle this claim myself or when should I consult an attorney.

Of course you can represent yourself. But, don't do it. You have significant injuries and unless you know the law on slip and falls, and how to present an injury claim, you would only short change yourself.

Find a lawyer who handles personal injury claims and get representation.

good luck and I hope that your have a full and complete recovery.
