I live in the state of Georgia but the company in question is headquarted in Ohio. This case concerns winnings for a national car audio competition that my son was entered in.
The organization that sponsored the competition was putting up the money and my son won second place....worth $680.00.This event was held in Oklahoma in October of 2000 and the response from this sanctioning body was that the money will not be paid since they do not have the funds available. This organization is still operating and taking annual fees from its members.
Your help would be appreciated !!!

Your post really wasn't clear on which of the companies was the ACTUAL responsible party. That would be the company putting on the promotion (lets call them Promoter). The person actually providing the prize (lets call them Supplier), unless they provided the actual agreement to your son, is NOT responsible to him.

Let me try to give you an example...
Taco Bell is currently running a "Tomb Raider" promotion. If you were to be a 'winner' (say of $100), Taco Bell would be responsible for paying you, not the studio. (Then, if the studio failed to pay Taco Bell, they (TB) could go after the studio.) But, the studio (unless stipulated otherwise) has NO contractual connection (or obligation) to you.

So, in this case, go after the promoter!
