I just went through a divorce in Washington state. I am trying to get the promise and wedding rings back. I talked to her a little while back, but she would not part with them. I looked into small claims court, but it seems that it is only for monetary settlements. I would like to get the physical rings back. What kind of court system would I need to go through to do this?

You ask what would you need to get your wedding rings back from an ex-wife.

Answer: A LOT of money (for attorneys and fees) and a skewed sense of reality.

The money will need to be 'expendable' since you will have (very) little if any chance to win in court. This property should have been covered in your property settlment agreement. The fact that you are bringing this up later gives me the feeling that she wasn't willing to part with them then and you are now trying to 're-open' the door in another attempt. It won't happen. And, even if it did, the settlement has said they are HER property and, I assume, that she would ask for equal compensation. Have you tried just buying them from her???
