I am a traveling nurse and was employed by a company in Florida. My employer assigned me to work in S.C. I was there for 6 months and my employer provided me with a furnished apartment After I finished my assignment I took a job in DC (no longer with the traveling nurse company). When I got my final paycheck it was over $1200 short because they claimed the furniture was damaged. It was not. I asked them to provide proof of the damage so I could seek to recover the $1200 from the furniture rental. They have no proof, no pictures of the furniture, nothing. They just paid the furniture co the money they claimed in damages with no evidence of damage. I have never lived in Fl and only lived in SC for the 6 months of my assignment. I was living in DC when I received my final paycheck which had the $1200 deducted from it. How do I go about recovering my $1200? Again, the furniture was not damaged more than what a family of 4 with 2 teenagers would do with normal wear and tear. Please help as I feel this company did not even ask for proof of damaged furniture and just paid the money out of my last check. I signed a contract allowing them to deduct for damage, but there was no such damage.
