I live in south Florida. I inadvertently left a few hundred dollars worth of easily recognizable musical equipment, (2 small monitors (speakers) mounted on 2 mike stands) behind after performing at a wedding reception in a banquet hall in a (resident only) secured community complex on 9/29/01. I tried to contact Leslie (the bride) for several weeks after the party but she was on her honeymoon and then out of town for a few weeks more. I left several "urgent" messages on her phone machine. Leslie finally got back to me on Sunday after she called the woman in charge of the banquet hall and found out that the complex had a bazaar the day before and admitted they SOLD my equipment at their bazaar. They couldn't say who bought my equipment or for how much. The proceeds of the bazaar go toward parties the complex give for themselves throughout the year. Please tell me if I have a claim against the complex or did they have a right to sell my musical equipment at their bazaar? The president of the complex told me the bride is responsible for my loss. I have bills and receipts to prove I purchased and owned my equipment. Thanks so much for any help...
