I own an apartment house and have a question about snow removal. Is it true that you are not liable if someone falls on your property during a snow storm? The snow removal company I use said that I am not liable and that I have 10 hours after the storm ends to remove the snow? Also, does anyone know what rules apply to snow on the sidewalk in front of the house? I live in MA.

Thanks,

Liz

Some States have their own laws then there are City/County ordinances. I do not know what they are.
In general, a property owner would not be liable due to force majeure or acts of God. In other words if someone gets hurt because of the snow, and the snow was caused by the weather, then the owner is not liable unless due to negligence.
