My experience has been really positive. The home dealer I've been working with (Sundance, in Maricopa) has been very up front. There have been a few snags -- they didn't install a phone jack in the living room (installed an extra TV jack, instead), and put in the wrong sink. And I can't fix glass to fit the nonstandard size light fixtures. But I have faith this company will make it right. If not, *shrug*, life goes on.
I did walk out on a couple dealers who were decidedly NOT on the up-and-up. One quoted me prices outrageously over market value for septic and a water tank & told me my loan wasn't for near enough money. I walked out on him. (He wanted like $8500 for septic, which should run about 2200.) So he called my mortgage company to try to convince them to give me a bigger loan so I could get their outrageously overpriced home package. After I walked out on him and told him I thought he was a crook ...
