What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Massachusetts i have a question about Social Security Benefits for a child. If the biological mother of the child re-marries after the childs biological father is deceased and the new marriage fails, the child remains with the step-father, the mother moves to another state and keeps the Social Security check for herself and the child receives nothing, can the new step dad go after this check to help support the child?ts but SSI check issued from the State of AZ.

Did the stepfather of the child adopt the child or gain legal custody of the child?

Sigh.

If you're reading this thread thinking you might find a little backstory from OP's somewhat unique username, I do not recommend you Google that name.

For real.
