What is the name of your state? washington. I had an adopted child and never got his ssi card , now he is gone . i need to get that card to complete other business(tax reasons) how do i get the ssi card in his absence (he is a minor)

~What do you mean he is gone? If this child is no longer in your care you may not have rights to his SSN.

Not necessarilly true. Example, he had has 17 year old child in his home for all of last year and is entitled to a dependent deduction. Now he's off at college and will be at mom's place during break, but poster wants to file his taxes.

However, for most purposes, you only need the number, not the card.
