What is the name of your state? Texas

I've read some great advice in here and just want to say kudo's to all the senior members.

I recieved a letter from some one called Cabrera & Assc. telling me I bounce a $17.14 check on July 15, 2000. They say I need to clear this up by paying $142.14. I called them to ask for a copy of the check and an itemized list of the charges, and they said they wouldn't send either. I then contacted my bank to fax a copy and verify that I had indeed bounced the check. Turns out I did, but don't remember recieving notice of it.

I then called these guys back with all intentions of paying them, but would need the itemized list of charges. I spoke to the most RUDEST person I have EVER talked to in my life! Now I'm pissed (and I'm a really nice guy)!

Now I know the SOL is 4 years for Texas, but I just want to verify that includes NSF checks. This check was written 4 years and 1 month ago. The last time I talked to these people they threaten me with legal action. Should I worry? Also, should I worry about them messing around with my credit? Should I pay them, or send the SOL letter mentioned in other posts.

It's funny. If this guy was anywhere nice to me he would have gotten his money. I was sooo mad I was shaking.

Thanks in advance!

The thing is past the SOL, do NOT pay them. Send them a cease and desist and tell them to go get bent - the debt is time-barred !
