I recently sold a laptop on Ebay for $1900.00. The laptop was in excellent working condition, and I have witnesses to attest to that fact. As requested by the buyer, I loaded the laptop with a fresh copy of Windows XP. On the 18th, the buyer recieved the laptop and had some minor problems that turned out to be just some quirks with the operating system, and some other, unidentifiable problems.

I suggested that the laptop internals may have come loose. She then proceeds to perform some troubleshooting herself, opening the case, etc.

On the 25th, she tells me that she bought a copy of Windows XP herself and now, she is having major problems, saying the PC will barely power up, and shutoff after 2 minutes.

These major problems happened after she opened the case, and I have no idea of her computer expertise. She now demands money back. The fact is that I know that the laptop was working perfectly, I was able to load software, but now that she cracks open the laptop, she can't.

Am I liable? What course do I have to defend myself?
