---Missouri-- sold car to neighbor and livein boyfriend. she promised to pay for car monthly. Before first month was over boy friend and her split up and boyfriend traded his part of household furnishings for car. I found this out later. The split came after she found some one else to runoff with. This all happened and she left town before first payment was to be made. This happened 4yrs ago. Then after leaving state she returned to neighborhood with 4 kids (one new) 3 before she left. Have asked for all the money and it has been 3mo. ago. what is the statue of limitation for a small claim to collect. the car was in her name first and then his. Any reply welcomed. THANKS

Why did you let the buyers register the car in there name before it was paid for? This is usually done after the car is paid for. Do you have a written contract or a verbal contract? The SOL for written contracts in your state is 10 years, verbal 5 years.

verble. would have done sometning earlier but they took off and only she came back. as for letting her register the car I just trusted her. What a way to live cheating people and then showing back up and thinking nothing of it.

what if I could get her to sign a note saying that she still has intension to pay me.
