What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Michigan
I sold my deceased husbands car on Craigslist on Saturday. It broke on Monday, and they called me to see what we should do. As far as i knew, it ran fine, then it stopped working. I replaced the battery and it worked again. I sold it, and here we are two days later it stopped working. What are my responsabilities here? I feel terrible, but i'm not sure it's really my problem. They never had it inspected, just signed over the title and they drove away. I told them about the sticking windows and the leaking tire, that's all i knew about. It is a car from 1991, after all. I think i'm going to give them a few hundred back for repairs just because i wanted to help them out, not hurt them by selling them the car, but i would like to know if there is anyhting else i HAVE to do, legally. Thanks,

I wouldn't give them back a dime. Tell them to enjoy their new car;)

Phew.

Good thing you didn't get stuck with it.

Sorry about your husband.

Tell the buyers not to call again.
Thanks both of you for the posts. Your feedback is really helpful- i've asked work friends too, and pretty much everyone is saying it's sold as is, and buyer beware. Maybe it's because it was my husbands car, or something emotional like that, but i was just feeling really bad about it... I guess i'll wait until they call back and go from there. Your advice is much appreciated :)
