What is the name of your state? Michigan

I sold this guy a used 1997 grand am GT V6. I had it in an auto shop the day before to get the brakes fixed and to see what was wrong with it. I got some things fixed but not all. I made the guy aware of these things and gave him the reciept from the auto shop so he would know whats what. three days later he calls my up saying that a cylender head gasket is cracked/warped and I had to know about it. The auto shop never looked for this or noticed the issue as the car was running fine. the repairs cost $1600. he wants $800 or his money back. In the rescipt it stated that "CAR IS SOLD AS-IS. NO WARRANTY OR GUARANTEE OF ANY KIND" So hes taking me to small claims court. Does he have a legal leg to stand on?
thanks for all your help. What is the name of your state?

Q: Does he have a legal leg to stand on?

A: I don't think so, but it only matters what the judge in your case thinks.

It sounds like the pre-purchase inspection that the guy should have done missed the problem too. Usually 11 year old cars do need work and that's why they are sold as-is!
