What is the name of your state? Ohio

I am having major problems with my neighbor. Since they have moved in, they have driven their cars through my back yard, parked in my back yard, taken items from my back yard, and used it as their own personal lounge. Last week, I was cleaning up their trash that was in my yard and the homeowner became extremely verbally abusive. He spent about 1/2 hour screaming and threatening me (though not a "direct" threat according to police.) I had officers come out, they tried to calm down the situation, but ultimately could do nothing except suggest I build a fence. Today I had fencing companies out to measure my lot. Sure enough, my neighbor came running out of his house screaming that the worker was trespassing on his property and called the police. The police felt it was the worker's mistake and told him that he needed to let it go. He continued to defame my name and stating he wanted to press charges against me. The cop explained that that was not going to happen.
Now, I'm having a fence installed next week but I am very concerned that the verbal harrassment will continue and that he will do damage to my new fence. Why do we have no rights in Ohio?! The police officer wouldn't even take a report, though I requested it. I am so frustrated and I feel like a prisoner in my own home.
Any suggestions?

I'm not a lawyer!

Sorry to hear about your situation. Here is the only suggestion that comes to mind for me. Invite a local "motorcycle club" over for a cookout while the fence is being installed. Make sure you mention casual dress in the invitations. :D That should get the nasty neighbor's attention. You could also film the installation of the fence both to have a nice memory of the good time you will have with the installers and to use as evidence against the nut next door.

Just wanted to post an update. I have since had a surveyor out who determined that part of my neighbor's driveway is on my property. My fencing contractor will begin tomorrow--yay! I just wanted to say that if you live in Ohio, or at least Akron, you shouldn't expect the police to lift a finger to help you out. The "Community Oriented" officer I have had the misfortune of dealing with has lied to me at every opportunity and done nothing to develop a mediation situation. Let's just hope they don't do any damage to my fence or continue defaming my character. At least the private attorney I contacted is willing to get off their butt and defend somebody's rights around here!

Sadly, after the surveyor and fencing contractor, who has the extra cash? Though, once the fence is up, I plan on being just as annoying as my neighbors!
Thanks for the advice everybody!
