My stepson who is 14 was caught at school last year with a knife. He wasn't threatening anyone with it, he just had it in his possession and was showing it to kids. A few weeks ago DJJ contacted us and decided to put him in a rightstep program to keep this off of his record instead of going to court to face criminal charges of possessing a weapon at school. We'll we just found out yesterday that they have now kicked him out of the program do to him not following the rightstep program rules (would not do assignments in school, nor did he bring his grades up liked they asked) they would now put him back in the court system. Do you know what the judge could sentence him to? Would they ask us to pay a fine? He purposly got kicked out of the program because for some stupid reason he wants to go to court. If he only knew.

Thanks,
Kimberly

Kim,
Obviously, your son has some serious problems and intervention has not worked, time for tough love, maybe a judge will make a better impression. I can't say what will happen, but most likely it is better if you cooporate with the process rather than fight it, let your son learn by the school of hard knocks just how good he has it. It is possible that he may get some help, who knows. It is possibly a good idea for you to also have some requirements for his failure to comply with the court's order thus far. Keep us updated.
