Any information and advice is very much appreciated:
Our son was found to have sold some of his Adderal XR at his High School to another student. In this incident, he admitted his fault and they inspected his backpack to find more Adderall and a knive. He states that he forgot to take it out of his backpack from a sleepover at a friend's house. He tells us that he's been periodically not taking his meds and pocketing them. He's sold one other time and thought he could get away with it again because he wanted money to buy cigarettes. We're very disappointed and heartbroken right now. He's a junior with a 3.3 GPA and on track to graduate. Now we're worried that he's not going to be allowed back in the school district (which is a good one). We know that he needs to take his punishment, but we don't want to see someone's life and dreams be broken. He's very smart but has made bad decisions. Any advice? Thank you. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

why should the school even consider allowing him to return? He was admittedly selling drugs (and this wasn't even the first time) and he was carrying a deadly weapon. I'm not seeing any argument to even convince the school to consider it let alone actually allow it.

Oh, and buying cigarettes is illegal if under 18. Is that another law he has decided to break?

Support him in his studies in the alternative school he will be attending (most likely - if available). You need to teach him that his actions have reactions. His attendance at this alternative school (if sent there) will be a reminder of what happens when he acts inappropriately.

I personally would not want your son anywhere near a school where my child is attending. Drug dealers are not the kind of people I want around my children.
