What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NY

My son, recently 18 yrs. old, is determined to start an independent record label to create and promote his music and that of other artists. The financial investor is a woman that is ready to use $100K or more. She has no job. She claims the money she lives on and is investing is her father's. Is there a legal way that we could press her to prove that? She says she is making my son and three others equal in the partnership. If she has legal issues in the future such as tax fraud or worse, would my son be held responsible as well? What about us as parents? Since he is under 21 yrs., would we be held accountable financially?
