I entered into a lease agreement with a sorority because it was mandatory to live in the house your second year in the sorority. After paying for the first months rent I lived in the house for only two days before I decided to leave the sorority for good. I signed a lease agreement but when I left I was told I had no obligations to the sorority because I was "de-sistering". No one ever contacted me about paying any more rent and someone actually took over my bed in a room with five other girls. Two years later I get a credit report saying that I am $1500 late on payments to a collection agency. I contacted the agency and found out that they wanted $3000 in back payments for rent in a house that I never lived in!? No one ever sent me a letter or phoned me in regards to this over due rent...do I have way out of this?
