SC- i bought a car in late december from a dealer south of greenville, SC. Used car. not too long later, i heard a grinding sound from the front when i used the brakes. uh-oh. Not only were the front pads paper thin and had good wear marks from rubbing on the discs, but the discs were one half and 3/4 of a mm BELOW the min allowable. i got sold a car with bad brakes, and i had to have a set of pads put in as an emergency (cheapest i could get) .i live in SE georgia curently (long straight roads). starting the second week of march now. is there anything i can do?

Nope. Brakes are something that you should have had a mechanic look at PRIOR to the purchase. Even if purchased last week (instead of FOUR MONTHS ago), you still wouldn't have a valid claim.

caveat emptor
(kah-vee-ott emptor) Latin for "let the buyer beware." The basic premise that the buyer buys at his/her own risk and therefore should examine and test a product himself/herself for obvious defects and imperfections. Caveat emptor still applies even if the purchase is "as is" or when a defect is obvious upon reasonable inspection before purchase.
