I was fired Friday from a state funded agency, along with a co-worker. We both were adviced not to make any calls about what happened by the Ex. Director and when I ask if I could tell some other co-workers / friends bye, I was told I couldn't. There are also many other circumstances that I don't think were fair, but I am wondering if this would be a case because I feel like my Freedom of Speech right has been violated.

You don't have to follow the advice not to speak, but if you don't they may go out of their way to hurt you.

Were you fired lawfully (race, age, sex, etc)?

I know that I was escorted out to the door, probably so I wouldn't speak to anyone. I was told I was fired because I was "selective" in my job duties, (which I feel is not true because I did all my work). I was also told I was being fired in hopes to learn me a lesson, for making bad choices in which I think was directed at being friends with my co-worker. It was clear they wanted rid of her, and because I hung out with her on our own time, I was also punished.
