What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? The ticket was received in NC I live in Texas but i'm from Israel

Hello

I got a speeding ticket last night in NC for 78 in a 60 zone. (Texas DL)
The officer gave me a court date of 10/29 but i'm going back overseas as i'm only in the US for work.
The officer was not willing to give me a ticket only a court date, anything I told him didn't help and now i'm stuck with a court date and i'm only going to be in NC for the next week.

1. Is there anything to do about this? talk with the DA and explain my situation and just pay the fine.
2. What will the fine cost be?

Thank you for any help here

This is kind of interesting coming form the State known back in the 50's and 60's not letting out of state driver leave until they paid their fine. Not they do not tell you the fine and make you return to find out what to pay.

You best bet is to contact the court the Officer is claiming you have to appear at, explain that your not a US citizen and you about the leave the US and you want to settle the matter now and see what they say. They most likely have an option for such situations.

Well the whole thing is wired.

I am a US Citizen but I'm only here for five years and i'm going back to Israel (On the 16th of October for five years)
I contacted the DA's office but they told me they will call back (spoke with an assistant)
I asked her what does she think the DA can do on this matter and she said he might be able to get the 78 over 60 to 74 over 60 and that is just a ticket with points (insurance anyone?)

i'll update as I get more info

Thank you
