What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NY

I understand that NYC does not have plea bargaining for speeding ticket. My ticket (22 over the limit) in a 45mph zone was issued 10/2011. At that last trial, the lawyer postponed the court date from 4/2012 to 1/2013.

Does anyone know how the proceedings work? For the traffic lawyer, is he simply trying to postpone till the officer doesn't show up, thereby having the ticket dismissed? Or does the lawyer actually formulate some argument to plead my case? Getting nervous with the court date coming up.

I've been driving for 10 years with no history of any types of violations. Does this factor into the situation as well?

Thanks!

Ask your attorney!

No, only after you lose and the judge needs to decide on the fine. Your past record means nothing prior to the penalty phase of the hearing.
