What is the name of your state? MO

I have been married for 9 years and have 2 kids. I had $40,000 in savings before marriage. I used all of this as a down payment for our home after we were married. Does my wife have a right to an equitable share of this $40,000? Just curious what the law says about this.

Unfortunately you co-mingled your previously separate property into a joint asset. That makes it marital property...it is no longer separate savings. Your wife has a right to an equitable share of a marital asset. Sorry.

Do you know the answer to my original question plus the following:

Does Missouri has alimony?

If so, can someone give me an estimate or at least if I will have to pay?
I make $60,000.
My wife will make appprox. $25,000 - currently stay at home mom.
Both of us have college degrees.
Wife worked 3.5 of 9 years of marriage at $25K rate.
Have 2 kids.

no one can give you numbers regarding alimony. You may pay something short term for alimony but you will -- especially if wife has custody -- be paying child support. You can run those numbers through an online calculator. Go to google.

If that's wrong for Missouri, then I apologize....but please give him the correct answer.
