What is the name of your state? NJ

Okay I’ve go a question about sports licensing. I would like to create “sports-themed” t shirts that DO NOT contain team logos or player names but definitely convey a sense of a team or player.

For instance, I have heard from others who do this that it is ok to print city names on t shirts using the team colors of that city as long as you are not using the team name or logos. It is ok to use player numbers but you cannot name the player. Is this accurate information?

Let me give an iron clad example:

Let’s say I make a tee shirt in Boston Red Sox colors – red and navy blue.

On the front it reads something like “Tradition” (in a font similar to the Red Sox uniform font). Then underneath it has the numbers of former players inside baseballs or circles or something – NO MENTION OF THEIR NAMES.

Would this be a licensing infringement?

Thanks
