My mother has recently been rendered somewhat mentally incapacitated due to several strokes and seizures. Her husband is not providing adequate care for her (leaves her home alone, doesn't prepare meals on a regular basis, tries to put the responsibility on everyone else to take care of her). They are not legally separated or is there any divorce proceedings in progress. Is there anything legally that I as a daughter can do to have him compelled to take care of his repsonsibities. This past summer he physically abandoned her and I was left with the responsiblity of taking care of her. As of now she is living in the house with him. I am expecting a child this year and am not able to take on the full responsibility. Please let me know if I can obtain a court order or some legal document to make sure she is taken care of. I am going to see a local attorney soon, but I wanted to know if there is any help available. JHART
