What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Texas

My hubby was recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. It is especially affecting him cognitively although he's still driving and working. I'm afraid that he will end up in a semi or full vegetative state and will need nursing care 24/7. We have a house together and 2 old cars. How can I make sure that I have something to live on if he becomes so bad I cannot care for him? What will happen? Will the fed govt. step in and freeze our home and income? We have no savings now. How can we plan for this? We have no children and no close relatives. I thought that in TX I have a right to 50% of everything but it would take all of a disability check just to keep him in a nursing home. :(
